The right MK-677 dosage depends on what you want it to do. I use it at 5, 10, 20 and 25 mg, for sleep, muscle, injury recovery and longevity. In the book those doses are spread across five chapters, so this page puts them in one place, together with the timing, the side effects and the labs I watch.
MK-677 is in Chapter 6 of Better Than Natural as one of the five core compounds of the Natural Plus Protocol.
MK-677, also called ibutamoren, is a pill that raises your growth hormone. No needles.
Growth hormone is the recovery hormone. It drives muscle protein synthesis, repairs tissue, thickens skin and deepens sleep. After thirty it falls every year. Most men feel that drop as slower recovery, softer skin, worse sleep and old injuries that never fully heal. MK-677 pushes that number back up by using your own pituitary.
That is the part I care about. Injected GH replaces your own output, while MK-677 makes your own system produce more of it. So your natural production stays online, which is Rule 2 of Natural Plus: zero hormonal suppression.
MK-677 binds the ghrelin receptor, the same receptor your body uses to signal hunger. That signal also tells the pituitary to release growth hormone. GH then travels to the liver, and the liver makes IGF-1, the growth factor that does most of the building.
Three things follow from that mechanism. You need to understand all of them before you pick an MK-677 dosage.
Sleep gets deeper. In a 1997 study, young men on 25 mg at bedtime spent about 50 percent more time in deep sleep and over 20 percent more in REM [3]. Most people notice the sleep change first.
Hunger comes with it. You are activating a hunger receptor. Some people barely notice. Most people eat more. On Natural Plus that appetite becomes fuel for growth, as long as you aim it.
Glucose moves. Growth hormone works against insulin. In the 12-month trial the book cites, MK-677 raised fasting glucose and lowered insulin sensitivity in healthy adults over 60 [1]. That is why I never run it alone. SLIN Pills handle glucose disposal on the other side of the scale.
Below is the full MK-677 dosage table by goal, the timing schedule, the side effects, the labs and the stacks.
