SLIN pills are one of the first two compounds I tell anyone to start with. They help decide where your carbs end up: in your muscle as fuel, or in your fat cells as storage. The book uses SLIN pills in six different chapters, at doses from 2 to 6 capsules a day, so this page puts every dose, the timing and the ingredients in one place.

Full disclosure: SLIN is made by Enhanced Labs, a company I founded and earn money from. Read this page with that in mind.

  • SLIN pills are a glucose disposal agent: a blend led by berberine, alpha-lipoic acid and chromium that helps your muscles pull in sugar from a carb meal.
  • The Natural Plus dose is 4 capsules a day, split before your carb meals.
  • Take them 15 minutes before you eat carbs. After the meal is too late.
  • They need carbs to work. On a low-carb day, take fewer.
  • In my protocol they are the counterweight to MK-677, which pushes blood sugar the other way.

What SLIN Pills Are

SLIN pills are a glucose disposal agent. That means a supplement built to help your body clear sugar from your blood after a carb meal, and push it into muscle.

Insulin is the storage hormone. When you eat carbs, insulin opens the doors on your cells so the sugar can get in. The question is which doors open first. If your muscles are sensitive to insulin, the sugar goes there and becomes glycogen, the fuel that makes muscles look full and train hard. However, if your muscles are resistant, the sugar keeps circulating, insulin stays high, and the extra ends up in fat.

SLIN pills tilt that decision toward muscle. That is why I call SLIN an insulin mimetic: it pushes the same direction insulin does, without an injection.

How Nutrient Partitioning Works

Nutrient partitioning is a simple idea: the same plate of food can build muscle or build fat, depending on where your body sends it.

Two things decide that. First, how sensitive your muscle is to insulin. Second, how much energy your cells are being told to burn. The main ingredient in SLIN pills, berberine, works on both. It activates AMPK, the energy switch that tells your cells to take in glucose and burn fuel. That is the same switch metformin flips. In a 2008 trial, berberine at 500 mg three times a day lowered blood sugar about as much as metformin in people with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes [1].

So on SLIN pills, you can eat more carbs and stay leaner. That is also why the book calls it the counterweight to MK-677: growth hormone pushes blood sugar up, and SLIN pulls it back into muscle.

Below is what’s inside SLIN pills, the dosage for each goal, the timing rule, side effects, the comparison with metformin and what to stack it with.
