Masteron side effects come from what it is: a steroid built from DHT, the hormone behind hair loss, acne and prostate growth. In my book, Masteron is “the polisher” of the Mass Blast Protocol, there to add density and hardness. Because it doesn’t turn into estrogen, it doesn’t cause the water and breast problems of some other steroids. The catch is the other side of the same coin: it acts like DHT, and the hair drugs in the book can’t block it. This page covers what Masteron is, the side effects to expect, and the labs to run.

  • Masteron is drostanolone, a steroid made from DHT. It was once used for breast cancer and is no longer marketed.
  • It doesn’t turn into estrogen and isn’t hard on the liver.
  • Its main side effect is hair loss, plus acne and prostate effects.
  • Finasteride and dutasteride can’t stop it, because it’s already a DHT-type molecule.
  • A DHT blood test doesn’t measure Masteron, despite what some charts imply.

What Masteron Is

Masteron is drostanolone propionate, an injectable steroid. Chemically, it’s DHT with one small addition, a methyl group, which makes it more anabolic and protects it from being broken down [1].

Later, it reached the US market in 1961 to treat advanced breast cancer in women, and it’s no longer marketed [1]. Since then, its main use has been in bodybuilding.

Because it’s built on DHT, three things follow. First, it can’t turn into estrogen. Second, it isn’t a 17-alpha-alkylated oral, so it isn’t known for liver damage. Third, it acts on the body the way DHT does [1][2].

Hair: The First of the Masteron Side Effects

DHT is the main driver of male pattern hair loss: over time, it shrinks the follicles on the top of the head. Masteron acts like DHT, so if you carry the genes for hair loss, it can speed it up.

That’s the side effect most users notice first, and it’s the one that doesn’t fully come back once a follicle is gone. Below are what the book says, the full side-effect table, why finasteride won’t help, the anti-estrogen claim, the DHT test confusion, prostate, heart, fertility, the labs and who should skip it.
