Nebivolol for bodybuilders comes from my own experience. When heart stimulation disrupted my rest, I balanced it with nebivolol. In the book, it sits in the health armor of the Mass Blast Protocol at 5 mg at night, and in the Sleep Bible at 2.5 to 5 mg. It lowers heart rate and blood pressure, and it also opens blood vessels through nitric oxide, which most beta-blockers don’t do. This page covers what the book says, what the research shows, and two rules the book itself needs to fix.
Nebivolol is a blood pressure drug, sold in the US as Bystolic and now as a generic. Also, it is a beta-blocker: it blocks the receptors that adrenaline uses to speed up your heart. As a result, your heart beats slower and with less force, and your blood pressure drops.
Two things set it apart from older beta-blockers. First, at normal doses it is selective for beta-1, the receptor on your heart, and mostly leaves beta-2 alone. Second, it releases nitric oxide in the lining of your blood vessels, so they relax and open [1].
Enhancement pushes your heart, especially at Level 5. High-dose androgens, trenbolone and stimulants raise heart rate and blood pressure, and the Sleep Bible explains how that same overdrive keeps you awake at night: norepinephrine floods the system, your heart stays fast and your mind races.
So the Mass Blast lists nebivolol under health armor, the part of the protocol that protects the machine. It sits next to telmisartan for blood pressure, and the book’s note is short: it stabilizes heart rate and blood pressure.
My own reason was simple. Back then, the compounds stimulated my heart, and it was costing me rest. So I balanced it with nebivolol.
Nitric oxide. The review the book cites describes nebivolol as “the somewhat-different” beta-blocker, because it also activates nitric oxide release in blood vessels [1]. Older beta-blockers, however, don’t.
Erections. That matters for men, because many beta-blockers are blamed for erectile problems. A recent meta-analysis pooled four randomized trials that compared nebivolol with metoprolol. Men on nebivolol scored better on erectile function [2]. However, the trials were small and very different from each other, so the authors said they couldn’t draw a firm conclusion.
Blood pressure. Finally, it is an approved drug for high blood pressure, with a long track record. That part is not in doubt.
